No offense, but—
Three words in, and the listener already knows what's coming.
That isn't a speaking problem. It's language taking the conversation somewhere you never intended.

OAT — Open Air Talk

Language that gets people where they wish to be.

Notice This

Say these out loud.

01"I hear you, but—"
02"With all due respect—"
03"Let me be honest with you—"
Notice what happens before the next word even arrives. Nobody misunderstands the English. Yet something changes. That's the whole business.

Did you notice what happened?

The Thesis

What you just felt wasn't a speaking problem. It was a failure of meaning.

The words weren't unclear. You understood every one of them. The problem wasn't what they meant. It was what they did.

Every sentence changes the relationship between people. The meeting. The apology. The interview. The podium. Language is already taking those moments somewhere.

Most communication training teaches delivery. OAT starts one layer underneath. We help you notice what your language is already doing before you speak.

Why It Matters

Good intentions don't always survive language.

💬

A manager spent forty-five minutes on a performance review. She used all the right words: "areas for growth," "opportunity to develop," "feedback culture." The employee nodded, said "thank you," and updated their LinkedIn profile that night. The words were right. The language wasn't.

Most people don't choose words hoping to damage trust. They choose words that feel safest to say. Those aren't always the same thing.

Language doesn't respond to intention. It responds to meaning. If a sentence quietly creates distance, the relationship has to work harder afterwards.

Why OAT Exists

I didn't build OAT to teach people how to speak.

I built it because I kept watching conversations fail for reasons nobody seemed able to explain.

Meetings ended with agreement but no decisions. Friendships slowly eroded over ordinary sentences. Managers followed every communication guideline and still lost trust. Good people walked away wondering what went wrong.

The words weren't usually the problem.

The meaning was.

For years I kept returning to the same question:

What is language already doing before the conversation even begins?

OAT is my attempt to answer that question, one conversation at a time. It isn't about becoming more persuasive. It is about helping your language carry the meaning you intended.

The Practices

Three ways to start unspeaking.

Setting The Record Straight

What this isn't. What this is.

Not

Speech therapy. Nothing here is clinical, and nothing here assumes something is wrong with you.

Is

Understanding what your language is already doing.

Helping you recognise why some sentences move people closer while others quietly push them away.

The podium matters. Delivery matters. Confidence matters. They all matter more when the sentence underneath them already carries the meaning you intended.

What We Cover

Some of what's inside.

Language always takes people somewhere. OAT helps you notice where before you speak.

One sentence at a time.
